Arua district Police department has received a new patrol vehicle, expected to boost its operations.

The new vehicle with the registration number UP 03027 was handed over to district chairperson Alfred Okuonzi on July 4, 2025, in the presence of the district Police commander and other force heads of department at Arua City Central Police Station.

West Nile Police region commander Latif Zaake said the patrol vehicle will help to boost security ahead of the political party primaries this month and the 2026 general election.

He acknowledged the challenge the district has been grappling with, having an old patrol car.

Zaake, who said each district is expected to receive a new patrol car, has urged the users of the vehicle to guard against recklessness and ensure its safety.

“Arua district had a vehicle, but you know the fleets break down and most of our vehicles have broken down. So, Arua is lucky to have received this vehicle among other districts that will receive the same, and this will help us not only during the elections but also for the general security. So, my appeal is that let the vehicle be used for its intended purpose," Zaake said.

Okounzi thanked the Inspector General of Police for the consideration, saying the new patrol car will help fight criminality and boost community policing in the district.

“Today I am the happiest of all and on behalf of the district I have a very good workforce and they will take a good care of this vehicle and it will be used for fitting crime in the district and also for community policing so that the mindset of our community can be changed,” Okuonzi said.
