Bishop Michael Okwii Esakhan of the Church of Uganda, Kumi Diocese, has encouraged both believers and non-believers to ground themselves in the risen Christ in order to experience victory and transformation in their lives.
In a heartfelt Easter Sunday message, Bishop Esakhan emphasised that being anchored in Christ means embracing a life that is bold in holiness, steadfast in truth, and free from gossip and deceit. He described this as active faith, one that embodies a victorious lifestyle.
“This is the faith I invite everyone to nurture as we celebrate Easter,” he stated in his communication to Christians during this sacred season.
Reflecting on the women who encountered the risen Lord and joyfully shared the good news (Matthew 28:8), he reminded all of the urgency of becoming witnesses to this transformative power.
He implored the younger generation in Teso to abandon destructive habits such as land grabbing, substance abuse, and gang affiliations. Instead, he urged them to promote unity and speak out on local, national, and global matters without resorting to slander.
“As St Paul reminds us, ‘Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ’” (1 Corinthians 15:57), he noted.
Esakhan acknowledged the painful realities of the world, including conflict, suffering, and various forms of sin that continue to affect societies.
He stressed that for all those affected, the message remains clear: Christ is risen, and it is time to rise and embrace a transformed life.
During this Easter season, he called on all believers to deepen their faith through prayer, engage with His Word, and live in obedience.
He urged Christians to embrace a life characterised by holiness, reconciliation, love, and peaceful coexistence, in line with Romans 12:18.
The Bishop encouraged everyone to proclaim the risen Christ through both words and actions, at home and within their communities.
He concluded with a prayer that the power of the resurrection may bring healing to the broken, unity to the divided, and transformation across the entire diocese.
