KAMPALA - Hundreds of participants turned up for the inaugural annual Mother’s Union Run, aimed at raising funds for the completion of the Mothers' Union building.

The run, which was flagged off at Namirembe Cathedral Gardens, attracted people of all ages — including men — and featured three main categories: 21km, 10km, and a 3km walk specifically designed for the elderly.

Before the runners set off, Bishop Moses Banja underscored the spiritual value of giving, especially when tied to engaging with God’s word.

“We are not only running to raise money for our building but also to fight disease. And when you take part in God’s work, He will not forget you,” Bishop Banja said.

He encouraged all believers to continue supporting this noble cause even beyond the run.

According to Roseline Biingi Kawiso, President of the Mothers’ Union Central Namirembe Diocese, the total amount needed to complete the building is shillings 12 billion. For this year’s phase, they are targeting shillings 4 billion.

The run was proudly sponsored by New Vision and organised by the Mothers’ Union, Central Namirembe Diocese, and all winners will get gifts.
