Detectives in Kisoro district on April 4, 2026, reconstructed a crime scene where a 43-year-old man was found dead under unclear circumstances, as investigations into a suspected murder gather pace.
The reconstruction exercise was conducted at Nturo trading centre in Sagitwe village, Mabungo parish, Nyarusiza sub-county, where the lifeless body of Godfrey Sanvura, a driver and resident of the area, was discovered earlier.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, the body was first spotted on the morning of April 3, 2026, by a passerby, Moses Ngabe Sebahire.
“The witness reported that while on his way, he found the body lying along the road near a fuel station and immediately alerted authorities,” Maate said.
Police were notified at about 8:30 am.
Maate said homicide detectives, led by Detective Sergeant Sande Tumwijuke, revisited and reconstructed the scene as part of efforts to establish what transpired before the victim’s death.
“The team documented the scene and collected exhibits of evidential value, while statements were also recorded from key witnesses,” he added.
The body was later taken to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
