Preparations are in full swing ahead of this weekend’s eagerly awaited MK Birthday Run, a significant fundraiser commemorating the 52nd birthday of Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

While speaking to the press at the PLU offices, Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa disclosed that a wager has been set among him, Balaam Barugahara, the state minister for Children and Youth Affairs, and Haruna Kasolo, the state minister for microfinance, stating that whoever finishes first in the 10KM race will win sh5 million.

Tayebwa extended his congratulations to General Muhoozi on his 52nd birthday, mentioning that General Muhoozi brought them together for a charitable initiative, and to add an element of excitement, they opted to place a bet.

Don Wanyama, the CEO of Vision Group, urged Ugandans to participate in large numbers for the MK run, emphasising that the event supports a worthy cause.

During the same occasion, Wanyama mentioned that he shares a birthday with General Muhoozi.

Minister Balaam indicated that they expect around one million participants to join in the run.
