Parents sensitised on raising law-abiding children

Police officers from the Child and Family Protection Unit, based at the Police Headquarters in Naguru, conducted a sensitisation session on Friday in Lobida Market aimed at educating parents on their roles and responsibilities in raising law-abiding children.
During the session, officers emphasised the significance of proper parental guidance and supervision in preventing young people from engaging in criminal behaviour.
According to Ruth Kintu, the Deputy Head at the Family and Children Protection Unit police headquarters, there has been a concerning rise in the number of children getting caught on the wrong side of the law.
To address this worrying trend, Kintu revealed that the government has taken steps to empower law enforcement officers.
Ijaga Muzamil Musa Musal, the Local Council II Chairperson of Tanganyika Ward in Arua Central Division, Arua City, praised the outreach program and stressed the need for continued collaboration between community leaders and law enforcement agencies.
The outreach in Arua is part of the Uganda Police Force's broader national effort to promote child protection and prevent juvenile crime through public education and community involvement.
