Vienna College alumni in Namugongo went back in time on Saturday (June 21, 2025), and did the things they used to do as they relived their school days through music, dance and shared memories.
One of the highlights of the evening was the lively "Jaba Dance," which brought energy and excitement to the auditorium. Dressed to the nines, alumni also competed for the titles of best-dressed man and woman, with prizes awarded to the winners.
Although all the alumni looked elegant, only two walked away with prizes.
Denis Ssenoga and Braton Braxy Kempango, who captivated the audience, were rewarded with a special gift, a two-night stay at Brovad Sands Beach Hotel, in Kalangala.
Speaking at the dinner held at the school in Namugongo as the keynote speaker, Professor Rachel Mindra Katoroogo, Head of the Faculty of Commerce at Makerere University Business School, commended the management for organizing the event.
She noted that it was not only a celebration of the alumni but also a step toward supporting the future development and growth of Vienna College.
She encouraged alumni to commit their time not only to Vienna but also to the surrounding community.
“We must harness community not just for ourselves but for those who will come after us,” Katoroogo said.
Katoroogo said Vienna College had instilled in them integrity and discipline that goes beyond what is taught in class to pass examinations.
“Let us mentor. Let us speak to students. Let us offer internships and open doors. We shape the minds, but we also shape memory. Let us be the storytellers of our school’s journey. At Vienna, we learned more than mathematics, science, and literature. We learned integrity, discipline, and empathy,” Katoroogo said.
Another keynote speaker, Baldwin Okello, a chief technical officer at Hamilton Telecom asked the alumni to get involved in long-term investment.
“Each of you represents years of Vienna’s investment in shaping future leaders. But we need Vienna alumni to come together. Our alumni network embodies decades of accumulated wisdom. We are not just Vienna graduates, we are the living legacy of Vienna in action.” Okello said.
