For parents in Kampala and Wakiso, today is a day worth spending with your children.
Olivia Nantenza from Buyoga town, Masaka district, set out from home at 5:00am, and by 8:00am she was already at the Kampala Parents’ School Sports Ground in Naguru.
“Apart from the service providers,” she says, “we were among the earliest birds to reach the grounds.”

Nantenza knows the secret behind the annual Toto Christmas Festival. Now attending for the third time, she says she cannot miss the Vision Group-organised event for anything. This is the one event her family looks forward to each year.
“My children always look forward to the fun,” Nantenza says. “In fact, it is they who remind me about the festival.”
There is nowhere else you can enjoy such a wide range of entertainment for just sh10,000.
“When children come to the festival, they play on bouncy castles, swim, have face painting and ride camels,” she explains.

Besides the fun activities, children also participate in competitions such as art, music and dance. Nantenza says three of her children are already taking part in different categories, and she hopes to take some cash prizes back to Masaka.
For parents with several children, transport and refreshments can be discouraging. But Nantenza says her family saves throughout the year for the festivities everyone eagerly awaits.
“The children’s anticipation the night before, and the joy they express once they arrive at the grounds, are moments I would never trade for anything,” Nantenza says. The festival is a bonding experience for parents and children, offering memories that last a lifetime.
For parents who may not know when the festivities take place, Nantenza says adverts always run on Bukedde TV1 in November and early December. She advises them to tune in so they do not miss the children’s Christmas event of the year.
The Toto Christmas Festival is sponsored by Ruparelia Group, Sumz, NIRA, Toyota, Pepsi and Indomie. You can enjoy all the fun in the world for sh10,000.
