A total of 84 churches across 10 Ethiopian cities have officially changed their signboard names to Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, marking what observers are calling a significant shift within the country’s Christian landscape.
The milestone was announced on the 10th during the “Ethiopia 84 Churches Signboard Changing Ceremony,” hosted by the Peter Tribe of Shincheonji.
At the event, 84 pastors declared that they had become members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, pledging to preach the Word of the New Covenant Revelation and to move forward as one through what they described as the “revealed Word.”
This movement traces back to Pastor Asefa Angeto, President of the Misgana Denomination Association, who attended the 2nd Global Invitation Revelation Seminar last November at Shincheonji Cheongju Church in South Korea.
Inspired by what he learned, Pastor Asefa returned to Ethiopia and began holding local seminars based on Shincheonji’s teachings, traveling to more than 100 churches in 10 cities to share the message.
The decision to change signboards is seen as more than a symbolic gesture. It is being framed as a “Word-centered transformation” within Ethiopia’s Christian community, with pastors positioning themselves as active participants in spreading Revelation-centered teachings.
At the ceremony, the 84 pastors issued a joint declaration:
“We have become members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, having mastered the Word of the New Covenant Revelation. We resolve to preach this Word throughout Ethiopia, so that both pastors and believers alike may follow only the truth and devote themselves more fervently to the ministry of the Word.”
A representative of the Peter Tribe of Shincheonji added that the development is part of a growing trend:
“Currently, 181 pastors in Ethiopia are learning the revealed Word from Shincheonji Church of Jesus. We will continue to make known the fact that the prophecies of Revelation have been fulfilled today, and we will do our utmost so that churches around the world may become united through the Word.”
The Ethiopian signboard changes represent one of the largest coordinated adoptions of Shincheonji’s identity outside South Korea, highlighting the group’s ongoing efforts to expand its global reach.
