KAMPALA - As the world rapidly advances into the digital age, the Government has been asked to introduce and support e-learning in both public and government-aided schools.

Mbuya Church of Uganda Primary School management committee chairperson Betty Tushabe says e-learning is the way to go presently because in future, the use of AI  will be a must in all aspects of life.

"Several international and private schools have presently moved to teaching their learners electronically, an aspect that has left government and government-aided schools lagging because their learners have no idea about it.

These learners do the same final exams at the end of the day, so they need to move at the same pace in their learning process,"Tusabe said.

Tushabe made the call during the inauguration of P. V. Shah Memorial Multi-purpose Hall at Mbuya Church of Uganda Primary School in Kampala city's Nakawa division on November 14, 2025. The hall was donated by Classic Leader Foundation.

Tushabe said that the school management committee has pledged to buy a projector for the school before next year and that the teachers would be trained on how to use it so that they can teach learners through e-learning.

Kampala Capital City Authority education officer Gerald Mukamba appealed for support to procure some computers so that children can acquire hands-on skills to match the digital world presently.

He said since the world is digital, enhancing learning, ICT skills will help children develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

The hall, reportedly worth shillings 300 million, was donated by Priyesh Pravinchandra Shah in loving memory of his late father P.V. Shah.

This hall, according to Classic Leader Foundation, is a symbol of their commitment to education, community empowerment, and philanthropy, a place where children will learn, grow, and lead for generations to come.

The foundation says over 40 schools across 40 districts receive termly scholarships for primary pupils. By 2030, the foundation plans to support 5,000 scholarships every year across 1,000 schools in Uganda.

Foundation chairperson Priyesh Pravinchandra Shah said: We believe that when we educate one child, we uplift an entire family. When we educate a generation, we will transform this nation.

He added that education will not only open doors for you, but it will also give you the power to open doors for others. Together we share one vision, that no child should ever be limited by the lack of opportunity and that every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential.

To the school administration, Transpaper director Reddy Srinivasa said: This new multi-purpose school hall is a symbol of hope, opportunity, and belief in the power of education.

Headteacher Jonathan Mukinusu said the newly constructed multipurpose hall will help the school get some revenue through the community, using it for different functions, including weddings, prayer sessions, and seminars at an affordable cost.
