President Yoweri Museveni is set to grace the 31st National Agricultural Show at the Source of the Nile in Jinja, organised by the Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.

The development was announced by the Minister of State for Agriculture in charge of Animal Husbandry, Bright Rwamirama, while addressing the press at the Uganda Media Centre on June 12, 2025.

The show, scheduled to run from June 27 to July 5, 2025, will be held under the theme “Technological Innovations Driving Farm Wealth.”

According to Rwamirama, the theme is in line with the government's strategic objective of modernising agriculture, increasing productivity, and raising household incomes through the adoption of science, research, and digital technologies.

Rwamirama noted that the exhibition will bring together local, regional, and international exhibitors who will showcase advanced agricultural machinery, precision farming solutions, value addition technologies, smart irrigation systems, and climate-resilient farming practices.

Among the innovations on display will be technologies developed by the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO), alongside contributions from other innovators.

“We call upon all Ugandans, especially individual farmers, farmer groups, cooperatives, associations, and entrepreneurs to attend, learn, network, and adopt these technologies to improve farm productivity and profitability,” Rwamirama said.

Also speaking at the event, the president of the Uganda National Farmers Federation, Dr Dick Kamuganga, appealed to Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to honour her pledge to establish an innovation fund.

This fund, he said, is intended to support young innovators in scaling up their technologies.

He further encouraged the youth to attend the expo, assuring them that various agricultural technologies suited for youth-led farming ventures would be available.

To support the event, Kenchic contributed sh10 million towards its organisation, while the Bank of Uganda, through the Agricultural Credit Facility department, donated an additional sh10 million to the farmers’ federation.
